First Baptist Church of Imperial Lakes (FBCIL) is a Southern Baptist church located at 1905 Shepherd Road in Lakeland, Florida, serving the Imperial Lakes community and surrounding areas. We are committed to proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ, teaching the Bible, making disciples, and helping people of all ages grow in their relationship with Christ.

Our church gathers for worship on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. and for Wednesday evening worship at 6:30 p.m. Our Wednesday evening ministry includes dedicated programming for children and students following congregational worship.

We believe that students are an important part of the life and mission of the local church. We desire to see young people come to know Christ, grow in biblical understanding, develop a genuine relationship with Him, and learn to live out their faith in their homes, schools, churches, and communities.

Position Overview

First Baptist Church of Imperial Lakes is seeking a Youth Leader who has a genuine calling to student ministry and a passion for seeing students know, love, and follow Jesus Christ.

The Youth Leader will provide spiritual leadership, biblical teaching, discipleship, and shepherding for students while working closely with the pastor, ministerial staff, parents, and church volunteers.

This position is an opportunity for someone who desires to further develop and strengthen our youth ministry while helping FBCIL reach students and families with the Gospel.

Primary Responsibilities

The Youth Leader will:

• Lead and shepherd students during Sunday and Wednesday youth ministries.

• Teach and faithfully communicate the Word of God in an age-appropriate and engaging manner.

• Further develop and strengthen the church’s youth ministry.

• Build meaningful, Christ-centered relationships with students.

• Encourage students to grow in their personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

• Provide opportunities for students to grow through Bible study, discipleship, fellowship, service, and outreach.

• Work closely with the pastor and other ministerial staff to further the Gospel and support the overall mission of First Baptist Church of Imperial Lakes.

• Partner with parents as they seek to disciple and spiritually support their children.

• Recruit, encourage, equip, and work alongside youth ministry volunteers.

• Support and minister to all students, including those who may be new to the church or have little church background.

• Attend and participate in appropriate local student events and activities.

• Help create a welcoming, safe, and Christ-centered environment for students.

• Communicate regularly with parents, volunteers, and church leadership regarding youth ministry activities and needs.

• Seek opportunities to reach students in the surrounding community with the Gospel.

Qualifications & Requirements

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

• Ministry experience, preferably with experience working with students or youth.

• Seminary experience or theological education.

• Demonstrated commitment to the local church and to student discipleship.

• Full agreement with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 and the doctrinal beliefs of the Southern Baptist Convention.

• Demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills.

• Able to provide references upon request.

• Able to successfully complete a background check.

• Ability to faithfully teach Scripture and communicate the Gospel clearly.

• Ability to work effectively with parents, volunteers, students, the pastor, and other ministerial staff.

• A heart for shepherding students and helping them grow in Christ.

• A desire to serve as part of the larger ministry and mission of First Baptist Church of Imperial Lakes.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for more than someone simply to organize youth activities. We are seeking a spiritual leader and shepherd who will invest in the lives of students, build relationships with families, equip volunteers, and help develop a healthy, Gospel-centered student ministry.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for Scripture, a love for students, a heart for evangelism and discipleship, and a willingness to work collaboratively with the existing church staff and congregation.

Compensation

Compensation is negotiable and will be determined based on the candidate’s ministry experience, education, qualifications, and availability.
